Alt Smokes was founded in 2019 in Smithville, Tennessee by Bryan Wyka, CEO and Crede Colgan, President. Both are still actively involved in running the company today, and have added offices in Berkley, Michigan. CEO Bryan Wyka took time out of his busy schedule recently to answer a few questions about his company.

B2B: How did you and Crede originally come up with the idea for your new company?
BW: Crede started growing hemp in 2018, and we put our heads together about how we could bring this incredible plant to the world. Then I asked if anyone had smoked it yet? When the answer came back NO, Crede then said we should roll it into a cigarette. We literally hand-rolled thousands of Hempettes and started selling, or passing them out, to gauge the public reaction. It was overwhelmingly positive, so we found a production facility to make the Alt Smokes products we have today! Our goal is to offer the world a cleaner, smoother, filtered smokable hemp product that helps people chill out and overcome nicotine addictions.

How would you describe your product line to retailers and distributors?
Our Original Hempette is an all-natural, hemp filled cigarette and filter that features 100% Pure Hemp Flower, sourced from local American Farmers. In February, we are also introducing a menthol version called “Mint Y’All” along with an exciting new collaboration with the legendary rock band, Motörhead. In order to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of their classic album “Ace of Spades”, we’re partnering with the band to release limited edition Ace of Spades Hempettes— they’re a must have (or a perfect gift!) for any Motörhead fans!

How does the Alt Smokes product line distinguish itself from other similar products in the marketplace?
We sell premium hemp with full transparency of what you are smoking. We value quality hemp first and quality smoke second. Although the hemp industry has NO formal regulations over production, Alt Smokes is committed to doing business the right way. While most of our competitors remove the CBD from the flower before they manufacture their product, we don’t.

To produce The Original Hempette, Alt Smokes utilizes the following:
• 100% Pure Hemp Flower from all natural American farms
• High Quality Hemp with a THC count of less than 0.3%
by volume.
• 8% minimum CBD Content
• No Nicotine or Tobacco

Our manufacturing process is also fully certified by the ATF so people can feel confident we are bringing a high-quality, wellmade product to market to enjoy. We target anyone looking to quit addictive nicotine products or who wants to take a smarter approach to smoking. Although the filtered smokable hempette hit the market a few years ago, the quality of hemp being offered was poor. In order to change that, we took on the job of educating folks all over the world on what a real, smokable hempette should taste like. It’s a big job, but our product sells itself. Do you sell only to distributors, or direct to retailers as well?
We have distribution deals all over the USA and are looking for more. However, we also sell direct to retailers where we don’t have distributors established.

What has changed since you started, and what’s on the horizon for Alt Smokes?
We are only a year old and starting to make a difference in people’s lives. Our reward is knowing we are helping people everyday battle their nerves as they deal with their daily lives, while also providing those addicted to nicotine with a smarter alternative. Our company has less than 10 people working full time to make Alt Smokes the #1 brand of hemp smokes available around the world. In 2021 we plan on adding more products, distribution platforms as well as new cobranding contracts with more bands from around the world. Alt Smokes is here to change the way people look at smoking cannabis hemp. We want to break the stereotypes of this plant and help people relax in the process.
